Welcome! This blog features things written by Cheryl Hentz, and offers links to some of her published work. It also features things of interest to Cheryl, including people, causes, or issues she's passionate about. Who knows? From time to time you may even find some tidbits of useful or interesting information. Enjoy!
In this latest edition of Eye on Oshkosh, host Cheryl Hentz talks with local author and Oshkosh historian Julie Johnson about her book entitled Oshkosh Down Under: Basement Businesses and the Tunnel from the Hotel Athearn to the Grand Opera House. Some of the topics discussed during the hour include why tunnels were perhaps built in Oshkosh and what things were like here in the 19th and early 20th centuries, how things have changed over the years, and whether any tunnels still exist today.
If anyone wishes to purchase a copy of this extremely well-researched and documented book, they can contact Julie Johnson at Jansen's Restaurant in Oshkosh, or by email at JulieMorganHouse@gmail.com.
