On
this edition of Eye on Oshkosh, host Cheryl Hentz spends the hour talking with
Mike Rohrkaste, Executive Director of the Fox Valley Memory Project and
Resource Navigator Kristy Millar. They share with the audience how to recognize
signs of dementia or Alzheimer’s disease; the various stages of dementia; new
drugs for the treatment of dementia, a new awareness campaign the Fox Valley
Memory Project has recently begun, support groups, and many other topics
related to dementia and Alzheimer’s.
Approximately 6 to 6.5 million people in
the United States are currently living with Alzheimer’s disease and related
dementias. Most are age 65 and older, but there are about 200,000 people under
the age of 65 with younger-onset Alzheimer’s. With the number of Alzheimer’s
cases alone projected to rise to an estimated 14 million people by the year 2060, this is one show you do not want to miss.
